15 August 2008 The Mailman Melbourne Metro Meeting
Hot Hussler at the Heath as Griffiths the Go
The much awaited Lewis Report was released yesterday, although unfortunately Racing Victoria's own website linked through to the Justice Department's website, where "technical difficulties" are believed to have caused it to not actually appear in a downloadable form anywhere, by late last night.
The establishment of a new division within the Victoria Police to monitor criminal activity is a slap in the face for the new GM Integrity Services but certainly a move which will give the racing industry a big boost in reputation.

15 August 2008The All Rounderr The Beijing Olympics
The K's Have It
Two words: Kosuke Kitajima! When Japan’s newest national hero claimed gold in the 100m breaststroke, we were jumping for joy, and we hope you were too.
Kitajima was sent out $2.25 second favourite in the final, but nothing like the $4.50 we alerted you to last week! In what was a perfect start to our Olympic Special, we hope your pockets remain flush with funds heading into week two.
Before we discuss the plethora of betting possibilities for the coming week, we must mention one individual in particular.

15 August 2008 The Speculator AFL Selections & Multi Bets
Cheats, Scumbags and Larrikins - within the Umpire Fraternity
Umpires are like all of us, they are fallible. A look over any number of Olympic events will tell you that all is often not what it seems and that some athletes have been the beneficiary of “hometown” decisions.
I was watching a Chinese bloke in the boxing ring the other night. He was fighting a European boxer. A quick check of the score revealed what appeared to be a close contest ...

11 August 2008 The Insider Exclusive to themailman.com.au
Massive Markdel Massacre & Bus Bust Up
Monday NEW 11 August
Well, what a huge day it was at Markdel! Or more particularly, the bus ride home.
No one is entirely sure what happened, but one of the TVN boys did overhear Peter Sweeney leaving a message on a phone for someone called "Sugar Ray" Callender.

15 August 2008The Rogue Brisbane Metro Meeting
Gulf Between Racing Generations
There was an attendance of 30,000 for Wednesday’s pubic holiday meeting at Eagle Farm. It was a party day, nearly everyone there was under 25. How many of them will turn up this Saturday?
Racing has an obvious problem here. Occasional bulging crowds do not translate to turnstile turnover at normal Saturday fixtures. The diehards are a dying breed.

15 August 2008The Boxer Sydney Metro Meeting
Mental about Mentality
The Boxer is sleep deprived at the minute and expecting to become further so over the next week. I admit I am an Olympics NUT. My old man revered the ‘Games’ and I either inherited that gene or was persuaded by his enthusiasm.
Of course I love the Boxing. For what it is worth I am picking the Cuban in the Heavyweight – Osmai Acosta Duarte. Try saying it with a mouth-fall of Cornflakes and see if you can still read your computer screen.

2 June 2008The Mailman Special Investigation
Mailman Exclusive! Banned by Bernie... But The Mailman Still Delivers!
Despite having my email server blocked by Bernie Saundry after my article last Friday, I will not shy away from continuing to reveal to you what really goes on at RVL. H ave you ever wondered what goes on behind closed doors of a stewards inquiry? Is it hours and hours of intense questioning aimed at getting to the core of the reason for the inquiry?

15 August 2008 The Night Cart Man Deliverer of Tish & Omen Bets
Ode to Simon Marshall The Apprentice NC Man
Well the Olympics are on in earnest!!!! I thought by now I could commence the annual “Bruce McAvaney to call the Melbourne Cup” campaign, but alas he has given the Australian viewing public nothing from the Water Cube. Yet!!!! I’m sure next week at the athletics it will be SPECIAL.
Don’t worry though Night Cart aficionados I did find a great substitute. Someone who should give us plenty come the Cup Carnival.
